Sun, liver and age spots are conditions that usually appear in later years on the surface of the skin. These are all caused by an excess concentration of melanin in a particular area, the pigment which determines our hair and skin colour.
Melanin absorbs the light energy during a VPL™ treatment and heats up quickly, whilst the surrounding skin remains cool. This rapid heating helps break up the concentration of excess melanin into smaller particles that are then removed by the body's natural waste processes. Imperfections are reduced and skin texture and tone is improved.
The use of Energist Variable Pulsed Light on the Face and body can be used successfully to treat a variety of other skin damage and blemishes. For example skin cells which have been exposed to the sun can produce excess melanin, causing age spots, freckles and pigment changes. By treating with Intense pulsed light the melanin production of some cells is disabled, evening out the skin tone, and smoothing the appearance of sun damage.

All skin rejuvenation procedures work well over the face, neck, chest and backs of hands and can be used on some leg blemishes.
Treatment, undertaken at regular 3-4 weekly intervals, can be seen as an ongoing skin care programme for clients of any age.
All skin types can be treated and skin colour makes little difference to the benefits of the treatment. But it must be emphasised that the treatment works best on skin that is at its most natural colour (i.e. Not tanned).
In some cases, slight redness and irritation may occur on the treated area (like sunburn). There is also a small risk of pigment change following treatment which will settle with time and a small minority of patients will develop bruising or blistering which again settle with time.
There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that laser treatment can lead to skin disorders or an increased risk of skin cancer. Our laser centre is registered with the Healthcare Commission, ensuring the highest level of safety for our patients.
The initial consultation is offered free of charge with no obligation to undergo treatment. Costs vary depending on the area being treated. Prices start from £60 per session.
